Mazen is a Senior Partner at McKinsey, based in the Middle East, with 22 years of consulting experience. He leads McKinsey's Banking, Securities, Insurance, and Risk Practices in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EEMA). Over the course of his career, he has overseen McKinsey Business Building (MBB), Growth, Marketing and Sales (GM&S), and Fuel (venture investing and building). Mazen also led the Risk and Regulations Practice in EEMA.
A global leader in the Financial Institutions Group and Private Capital Practices, Mazen is also the founder and current chair of McKinsey’s Kuwait office. He advises leaders in the financial services and institutional investor sectors on their most critical strategic priorities.
His expertise spans strategy, governance, and operating models, mergers and acquisitions, large-scale performance and health transformations, digital and AI transformations, business builds, risk and resilience management. He also focuses on universal banking topics across retail, corporate, and investment banking, wealth management, treasury, balance sheet and capital management.
Mazen's prior work includes developing and implementing transformation and modernization programs for various financial institutions in the Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EEMA). He has upgraded monetary and financial stability management capabilities for several EU and EEMA central banks.
His passion for finance and international economics originated in academia. Before entering the consulting world, he held positions at both the University of Manchester and the American University of Beirut.
