Mehryar is a partner based in the UAE with over 27 years of experience in management consulting, specializing exclusively in banking and financial services. He coleads McKinsey’s MEO implementation work and the FIG Implementation team. His career spans 12 years based in London advising major banks across the United Kingdom, United States, and Europe, followed by 15 years across the Middle East—establishing him as a trusted adviser on many of the largest and most consequential banking transformations in the regions he has served.

Mehryar brings an entrepreneurial mindset to every engagement—combining disciplined execution with bold innovation to create sustainable, distinctive advantage. His focus is on consistently helping clients achieve genuine market leadership.

Mehryar’s recent client engagements include:

  • leading multiple strategic transformations for the largest banks in KSA and the wider GCC, delivering significant market capitalization growth and cementing clients as recognized regional leaders in retail and SME banking
  • advising major Saudi capital market entities and captive investment vehicles on strategy and operating model transformation, including proprietary investments and private credit
  • leading national systemic-level engagements involving crisis management and large-scale regulatory and risk remediation—among the most significant transformation mandates of their kind in the Middle East
  • pioneering analytics and decision intelligence capabilities within major financial institutions, building platforms that deliver a distinctive pricing and commercial edge
  • advising leading UK, US, and European banks on large-scale transformation across growth, operations, and technology prior to his career in the Middle East

Prior to McKinsey, Mehryar was a managing partner at PwC Middle East, leading the financial services consulting practice, and before that he served as the PwC Ventures leader. Earlier in his career, he led the financial services consulting practice across Africa, India, and the Middle East at Ernst & Young (EY).

Mehryar holds an MBA with Distinction from the University of Oxford, an executive MSc in Behavioural Science from the London School of Economics (LSE), and an undergraduate degree in economics from the University College London (UCL). He is a Chartered Accountant from England and Wales.
