Alex Kimura is a leading advisor to global CEOs, top-management insurance executives, and government regulators, leveraging his knowledge of the financial services and insurance industry to advise executives on strategy, and operations. He primarily serves leading insurers on their multi-year transformation to materially improve client impact, accelerate performance, and drive shareholder value.
Alex brings with him over 25 years of strategic and deep operating experience. Prior to joining McKinsey, Alex worked in investment banking and management consulting; he also held CXO positions at global insurance firms in the life/retirement, P&C, and wealth management sector. With a more recent focus on digital innovation, he helped spearhead efforts to build new insurance business models and chaired the Monetary Authority of Singapore digital innovation roundtable in the city-state. Over the years, Alex has also served on several boards with leading financial institutions across Asia.
Alex is a frequent speaker at numerous industry conferences on digital insurance and regularly judges at fintech competitions. You can also hear his perspectives as the host of the McKinsey on Insurance podcast.
Alex is an avid tennis player and global traveler and has traveled to more than 80 countries. His travel goal is to visit at least one UNESCO heritage site a year. After having resided and worked in 11 countries, he is now based in Singapore with his wife and five children.
