Senior PartnerNew York

Leads the Financial Services Practice in the Americas and coleads globally, helping clients on their most complex strategic and organizational problems leading to sustainable performance improvement.

As a co-leader of our global Financial Services Practice and the leader of our practice in the Americas, Asheet takes a global perspective—tracking developments and dynamics across all financial services sectors and functions.

Over a career spanning more than two decades, Asheet has provided advisory support to a broad range of financial services institutions, including universal, wholesale, and retail banks; payments providers, exchanges, and infrastructure companies, and wealth and asset managers and insurers.

Working together with executive teams, Asheet supports efforts to address a full spectrum of strategic and operational challenges. He has helped restructure organizations, boost the performance of sales and marketing, and rethink operations, including technology platforms and risk and regulation approaches. He has also advised both new and established companies as they navigate the market turbulence caused by rapidly changing digital technologies, evolving consumer expectations, and unpredictable regulatory frameworks. His work has ranged from corporate strategy and assisting with large scale transformations to functional performance improvement and organizational effectiveness.

Asheet is also the co-developer of McKinsey’s proprietary strategic control map, a framework that visualizes how changes in a company’s market capitalization affect its ability to retain strategic control, and was on the team that developed the three horizon growth framework. The tools combine Asheet’s interests in both big picture trends and actionable insights, by showing at a glance the range of organic and inorganic growth and performance improvement needed, as well as the initiatives needed to meet their goals.

In addition to his work at McKinsey, Asheet is active in fostering cultural and social development in New York City. A member of the Asia Society board of trustees, he is also a former president and current board member of Partnership with Children, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the emotional, social, and cognitive skills of at-risk children.
