Currently, her work centers on assisting capital-intensive industries in developing and implementing agile operating models to boost performance. This involves effectively prioritizing activities while maintaining alignment between talent and capital, simplifying organizational structures and processes, and ensuring the workforce possesses the necessary skills and mindsets for sustainable performance.

In terms of new energy ventures, Esmee guides energy organizations in establishing structures that balance autonomy with synergy capture, allowing for rapid scalability and agility right from the outset.

  • Assisting a utility company in launching and scaling a carbon capture venture.
  • Supporting an oil and gas corporation in designing and implementing a new global operating model for upstream operations (major projects, wells, subsurface, and production) to enhance operational agility, reduce costs, simplify workflows, and prioritize the portfolio for success during the energy transition.
  • Partnering with an industrial organization to facilitate the growth and acceleration of their renewables venture.
  • Aiding a logistics company in creating a green fuels enterprise to meet sustainability objectives and build out a new venture.
  • Redesigning the well-planning process and operational model for an oil and gas company to uncover opportunities for digitalization, agility, and simplification.
  • Defining the vision, conducting value assessments, and outlining a high-level blueprint for an agile HR group at a global tech corporation's top team.

Esmee joined McKinsey in 2016 in the firm’s Amsterdam office. Prior to this, she worked in a social enterprise focused on quantifying and reducing environmental and social impact in commodity-value chains.
