Hiroshi supports corporate transformation for numerous client companies, including OEM manufacturers in the automotive, machinery, and heavy industry sectors, as well as manufacturers of automotive parts, electronics, semiconductors, and consumer goods. He has specialized knowledge in a wide range of fields, from corporate growth and new business strategy formulation to on-site operational improvement and the strengthening of marketing and sales capabilities.
His recent engagements in the automotive sector has included conducting comprehensive performance diagnostics for companies and formulating growth strategies that include new business areas and inorganic growth. He has also established a PMO to support global profitability management programs, assessing the potential for improvement in various functions such as pricing and dealer management, and designing key strategies.
In the heavy machinery sector, he has formulated a global strategy for product platforms, introduced a comprehensive target costing approach, designed a global-scale procurement optimization program, which led to reducing costs by $100 million. He also launched a capex management program aimed at optimizing the design of new factories and improving the productivity of existing equipment, realizing a reduction of approximately $110 million in capital investment-related costs.
As the Japan leader of the Advanced Industries (Manufacturing) group, he is also deeply involved in supporting the global expansion of Japanese companies, and in recent years has been actively engaged in supporting the entry of Japanese companies into the Indian and Southeast Asian markets.
In addition, he oversees the human resources department of McKinsey's Japan office, leading talent acquisition, evaluation, and development, promoting AD&I (All-in Diversity & Inclusion), and improving colleagues’ experience and life balance. He is also a member of McKinsey's global partner evaluation committee and the overall learning leader for McKinsey Asia.
