Leads McKinsey's artificial intelligence and technology work for the public sector globally, helping government, healthcare, and higher-education institutions modernize services at scale

Hrishika is McKinsey’s global leader for artificial intelligence and technology work for the public sector. With more than 20 years of experience leading technology and business transformation, she advises governments, healthcare organizations, and higher-education institutions on how AI can fundamentally redesign public services. Her expertise spans AI and generative AI, digital and data modernization, cloud, analytics, and human-centered design. Her work has improved access to essential government services for more than 150 million people, spanning Medicaid, unemployment insurance, public health, licensing, and social services.

Hrishika is a leading authority on scaling AI across complex institutions, helping leaders turn ambitious AI announcements into better services for their constituents. Examples of her recent client work include:

  • helping a public sector agency establish a new office for AI, data, and technology, taking it from isolated pilots to hundreds of use cases and the supporting org and operating model with 200 roles
  • sequencing AI across the front door for a state health marketplace serving 2 million consumers—a service-center co-pilot, an enrollment assistant, and smart targeting—shortening handling times and boosting completion rates
  • proving out AI on Medicaid payment integrity, surfacing about $50 million in preventable discrepancies, and creating momentum for an agency-wide AI aspiration and road map
  • modernizing service delivery, cutting processing times by nearly a third, upskilling 1,500 staff for cloud and agile ways of working, and eliminating about $2 billion in inefficiency across multiple agencies
  • designing the digital future state and AI-enabled shared services for an academic medical center across clinical, research, education, and philanthropy units, to free roughly a quarter of administrative capacity.

Beyond the public and healthcare sectors, Hrishika has led technology and data modernization efforts across consumer, retail, and financial services in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America.

In addition to serving clients, Hrishika leads McKinsey’s thinking on AI in the public sector, coauthoring the firm’s flagship series on “how the public sector can meet the AI moment.” She is a frequent author and speaker on how governments can scale AI responsibly, redesign operating models, and deliver better outcomes for residents.

A prominent voice in California's business community, Hrishika serves on the board of the California Business Roundtable and previously served on the Board of Governors for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, convening business and civic leaders on the responsible adoption of AI.

A first-generation American who has worked in more than 20 countries, she speaks five languages and enjoys swimming, traveling, and exploring wine regions around the world.
