Johannes is an expert in software and electronics, the connected and autonomous car disruptions affecting the automotive industry, and digital technologies and strategy. He leads McKinsey’s automotive software initiative in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, supporting clients in shaping their digital strategies, improving technology operations, upgrading their organizations, and driving digital transformations. As an integral part of McKinsey Digital in Germany, Johannes works with automotive, machinery, semiconductor, and aerospace and defense companies to enhance their digital products and capabilities.

Johannes has helped a variety of clients define and operationalize their digital transformation journeys. Recent examples include the following:

  • setting up a software strategy and transformation program at a major automotive OEM, including the build-up of a new organizational unit focused solely on software and electronics
  • defining strategy for electronics and software for a tier-one automotive company
  • setup of a company-wide cybersecurity program in automotive
  • transforming an engineering function at a major tier-one automotive supplier to prepare for upcoming automotive disruptions
  • creating a make-versus-buy strategy for infotainment software components at a major automotive OEM
  • defining a future technology platform and organization for architecture and coordination for a major automotive OEM
  • establishing a software excellence initiative for an automotive OEM
