Ryan is a senior partner with McKinsey Transformation based in Washington, DC, who helps clients execute large-scale transformations to create substantial and enduring changes in organizational performance and health. He has served clients around the world across a range of industries and with deepest experience in energy, materials, and other industrials.
Ryan leads globally McKinsey’s Capital Markets service line, which helps clients to envision, plan, and deliver exceptional enduring value creation while also maintaining robust dialogues and relationships with their investors. He has also served in a range of other leadership roles, including on the editorial board of McKinsey on Finance and several personnel review committees.
Examples of his recent work include the following:
- holistic transformation of a global chemicals company, resulting in dramatic improvements in performance and health within 18 months
- holistic transformation for a leading global materials logistics and processing company, including deployment of company-wide capability building program
- leading value capture for the merger of two chemicals companies, resulting in the achievement of almost two times the management goal in synergies
- embedding as full member of senior management team during a performance partnership with a global industrial business across strategic and operational topics
- leading portfolio review and activist defense engagement for a large global industrial company
- assessing split of materials company with an activist shareholder, and subsequent value creation roadmap for one of the emerging public companies
Prior to joining McKinsey, Ryan worked in risk management for a multi-strategy hedge fund and as a policy analyst for a member of the US Senate Committee on energy and natural resources.
