Sal is the co-convenor of the firm’s operations work globally and a senior partner in McKinsey’s Atlanta office. Sal also spent several years in Hong Kong coleading the firm’s global travel, logistics, and infrastructure (TLI) work. He works with organizations, primarily in the travel, industrials, logistics, and infrastructure sectors, to accelerate performance and organizational health by leveraging the power of AI and technology. He has led significant transformations, generating bottom-line impact and building sustainable capabilities.

  • leading end-to-end transformation for a leading asset-heavy travel player, with focus on procurement/supply chain across a broad range of spend (technical and hospitality) and frontline operational productivity
  • leading a prominent road-fleet company’s comprehensive operational and commercial transformation, with a focus on reducing direct-labor cost through operational efficiencies, improving fleet-management practices, and managing pricing and revenue
  • leading multiyear transformation for a leading global luxury hotel chain, including operational cost improvement (frontline staffing, procurement, back office) and growth topics (commercial and revenue management, channel and digital)
  • leading the turnaround and full potential implementation of a leading global freight forwarder and contract logistics player with a focus on cost position and M&A moves to achieve market scale
  • designing and executing AI strategy for a leading global airline, with focus on MRO/maintenance and flight operations to increase productivity and improve reliability
  • leading a post-merger integration effort for an industrial company, resulting in synergy value capture and day-one readiness for the new organization
  • designing a service-delivery transformation for a leading logistics and trucking company, redesigning core service-delivery elements, such as dispatch and performance management and routing
  • partnering to conceive, design, and build a new greenfield airport by creating the vision for the airport (passenger, cargo flows) and surrounding ecosystem grounded on tourism and industrial economies
  • leading a multiyear strategic sourcing effort at a Class I railroad, including assessing the client’s purchasing capabilities and category practices followed by a procurement transformation

Sal started his McKinsey journey at the Atlanta office in 2006 prior to moving to Hong Kong in 2022. Before joining McKinsey, he worked as a process engineer at a multinational computer-technology company. He evaluated operations strategies for fulfillment models and managed large capital projects for capacity, productivity, and quality gains.
