Tom is a partner in McKinsey’s People & Organizational Performance Practice. He combines over 15 years of advisory experience with global leadership of McKinsey’s People and Performance portfolio of proprietary assets and capabilities.
Tom’s client work and product portfolio focus on supporting clients in driving holistic, sustained transformations at the intersection of strategy, people, data, and technology, including the people impact and imperative of agentic AI. He brings leading-edge knowledge and pattern recognition in organizational design, transformation, leadership, and analytics to address his clients’ challenges. Using his expertise, he counsels clients across multiple sectors, particularly telecommunications, media, and insurance.
Examples of his recent client work include:
- applying traditional organizational design, zero-based budgeting, agile, and agentic approaches to redesign operating models in more than 35 organizations
- diagnosing and embedding behavioral change in more than 150 transformations, helping to create new performance-sustaining habits
- helping an FTSE 100 executive team define governance and norms to drive high performance
- deploying advanced analytics in strategic workforce planning to deliver a new talent strategy that helped a bank build its workforce of the future
Tom is a lead facilitator for several McKinsey flagship client capability-building forums. He also serves as an external member of the University of Cambridge’s HR Committee, a joint committee of the Council and the General Board, and as an Honorary Visiting Fellow at Cambridge Judge Business School.
Before joining McKinsey, Tom worked as an engagement manager in strategy consulting, focusing primarily on corporate strategy, leadership, and analytics. Tom received an MA and MPhil in Economics from the University of Cambridge.
